lomography loveliness – embrace analogue!
Today we thought we’d share one of our favourite hobbies with you: the beautifully imperfect world of Lomography! Lomo is all about the joy of analogue photography – and we love it! At its core is the romanticism of a moment captured – fleeting and honest – without need for a retake; because that slice of time is just right as it is. It doesn’t matter if it’s blurred, if the subject is a little out of shot, or expressions aren’t magazine perfect. Digital certainly has its place in the modern world, but sometimes it is just refreshing to return to the way we used to do things.
We started playing about with a Diana Mini on Christmas Day 2010 and since, our faithful Lomo family has grown to incorporate a glittery gold Fisheye and a Holga. We also count our many car boot bargains – an old Praktica and a pink plastic number – among our analogue faithfuls. Lomos can be a little on the pricey side, but we have had some amazing results from old, unloved cameras we’ve picked up for a fiver or less, so don’t feel this is a hobby you need to save up for – just dig out an old analogue and get snapping (for more help – check out the ten golden rules of Lomography).
And of course, there are some amazingly diverse Lomo-inspired crafts to behold! Here are our favourites:
Sweet little bronze camera necklace from Little Trinkets. Super cute!
Set of Holga coasters – awesome!
Paper pinhole cameras from Amanda Monaghan. Serious cool points.
And to finish…here are some Lomo shots from theMADEproject family album
